A
Ethanol - a dried sample of the substance to be tested is mixed with the ethanol which is then poured into a test tube of water
Water is cloudy if present
Clear if absent

Solutions 1 and 2
Add equal volumes of solution 1 and solution 2 to a solution of the substance to be tested
Purple is protein is present
Blue if it is absent
