What would be considered some physiological obstacles for students?
Unfamiliar feelings and sensations such as G-Forces, vibrations and noises. These can be overcome by simply understanding their causes.
How can an instructor ensure student ability? SEERSS
S) Student safety - an instructor is responsible
E) Evaluate performance constantly - look for consistent and continuous growth
E) Evaluate - during and after maneuvers
R) Ready for solo - instructor must be confident and make sure the student practices safe solo operations
S) Share evaluations with student - should be done regularly so the student understands their progress
S) Supervision - includes both dual instruction and solo flight
How does an instructor exhibit professionalism? PSPADS
P) Personal appearance - hygiene, and language. Dress appropriately, use common courtesy, be neat and clean
S) Sincerity - be honest and straightforward, admit mistakes,find the answer to a question you don’t know
P) Punctuality - early is on time
A) Acceptance - accept each student as they are, encourage and support them
D) Demeanor - must have a positive attitude, respect

How does an instructor evaluate student ability? DKC
Demonstrate ability (ME) - Mastery of the element, Experience and stage of development
Keep student informed (CAP) - Critique student honestly and often, Address deficiencies and suggest corrective action, Praise accomplishments
Correction of student errors (DO) - Do not always/immediately take controls after a mistake, Opportunity to correct an error
How do you minimize student frustration?

What is important about aviation instructors and exams? AIEE
An instructor who recommends an applicant for knowledge test is saying they have provided the required training and feels confident that they’re capable of passing the test
Instructor is responsible for deficiencies
Endorsing a student means you are responsible for their safety
Endorsing before they’re ready is a breach of faith
How long should solo endorsements be held?
3 years, and must include student name, date and aircraft type.
What else should be kept in record as a CFI?
Type, date, and results for all knowledge and practical test endorsements must be kept
What are the requirements for conducting additional training and endorsements? CHAP
C) Checkouts - Instructors can perform checkouts for pilots to ensure they are safe
H) Highest achieved cert level - flight review should be tailored to their level
A) AC 61-65 and 61-98 - information for endorsements, flight reviews and IPC’s
P) Performed satisfactorily - only required to endorse flight review if they pass
What are some ways to achieve professional development? CECI
C) Continuing education - pursue higher/additional ratings, FAA WINGS, ASF Courses
E) Educational training institutes - College degree programs or single courses to benefit instructors
C) Commercial organization - companies like ASA that have online/printed training materials
I) Industry organization - good places to network with other pilots/instructors, refresher training, AOPA, EAA etc
