3 types used;
- sharp focus
- soft focus
- differentiated focus

Sharp focus
A
All the edges in the image are sharp and clear

A
All the edges in the image are soft and “fuzzy”

Differentiated focus
A
A combination of soft and sharp focus. In other words part of the image is in soft focus and part of the image is in sharp focus

When is differentiated focus used?
A
Film makers make use of this particular technique when they want you to focus on a specific character. Usually the character that is speaking is in sharp focus while those around that character are in soft focus
