What does the forefoot contain?
5 toes (phalanges), 5 longer bones (metatarsals)
What bones does the mid foot contain?
3 cuneiform (wedge) bones, cuboid bone, and navicular bone.
What does the hind foot form?
Heel and ankle.
What bone does the Talus bone support?
Tibia and Fibula: forming the ankle.
What is the biggest bone in the foot?
Calcaneus Bone.
What is a blister?
When the epidermis layer separates from the dermis layer and fluid collects between the layers.
What are the causes of blisters?
Improper foot conditions, heat/moisture, improper foot wear, and friction and pressure.
Describe the signs and symptoms of blisters?
Fluid under skin, edema, erythema, discomfort and pain.
What are the treatments for small blisters?
Clean area, and apply mole skin.
Describe the treatments for closed blisters?
Clean the area with betadine or alcohol. Drain by expelling fluid gently, apply moleskin and foot powder.
Describe the treatments for open blisters?
Clean with betadine or soap and water. Remove loose skin, apply mole skin and apply ointment.
What is athletes foot?
Fungal infection of foot.
What are the causes of athletes foot?
Weather, contaminated footwear/floor, poor foot hygiene.
