Circling Approach
Additional requirements?
Max speed Cat B, Cat C?
How to fly; AFCS modes, ALT SEL

A

45 Sqn +1km published vis
Cat B 135kts, Cat C 180kts
Descend on GS, LOC/HDG, VS (ALTS armed), ATL SEL MDH (not below),
Check HDG, ALT active, Level, N1 increase 75%, F3 130kts, ALT SEL MAP Alt
extend 10s over runway (unless turning before overhead)
AP Disengage before Final turn
Final Turn 48-50%

PM set FMS OBS once levelled out. Eyes out cockpit if vis poor.

MAP: Must maintain speed control, turn onto MAP Track then climb or Go Around to MDH, then climbing turn onto MAP track.

Q

1) Landing climb speeds in normal config F3, Wingstab Off AEO?
2) Vlc, Vac for F3, Wingstab ON?
3) relevance?
4) engine fails on a touch and go, what speed?

A

1) Landing climb (if baulked on runway and Go Around) to ensure obstacle clearance, Vlc = Vref
2) Vlc = Vac = Vref
3) Approach climb = engine failure on approach, speed to capture for obstacle clearance. Landing climb = baulked on runway, assumes AEO
4) Vac - No V2 will be set, targeting 110-120kts should be sensible.

Q

EFATO

A

Control (roll, yaw, thrust) “FD to crew suspect loss of thrust”
“Gear up, FLC, V2 = ?”
Focus on V2, follow FD including lateral or get rid.

Identify - “check EICAS, tell me what you see”
Confirm - “my L/R leg dead, I confirm no 1/2 engine dead”
Thrust - TO RSV?
Drag - Gear, Flap (to come?), Speedbrake
Trim

MIs - No MIs, do you agree? or MIs at 1,000ft/stable
RT - Visual, remain TWR, IF, to departures.
After TO Cx
FRCs - confirm actions and subsequents

R/T

Q

Wingstab approaches

A

a) Intent to turn off wingstab, assessing at 1,000ft
b) Can I land with wingstab ON if weather is worse?

Pre-flight.
LDA?
CLW? ZFW + What fuel load can I legally fly the approach at with WINGSTAB ON
Accel hgt vs Cloudbase (must be below if icing conditions exist in cloud)

RPD.
LDA + CLW at ISA + adjustments for Non-ISA conditions
CLW at varying ISA Deviations

Refs
Vref = V ref OFF / PM (V ref ON as a backup = Vac)
Vap = Vac ON + 5kts
Vac = Vref ON

Flying the approach
Going to be fast ~150kts, takes time to bleed back speed. NLT 800ft?
Go Around - Accel Alt vs cloud, 150kts above 400ft before ON.
Engine Failure (before OR after turning Wingstab off) = Vac wingstab ON
