Q

Why were many solid objects prepared as fluids.

  • give 2 points
  • give an example
A

Many solid objects were originally prepared as fluids because fluids are easy to move and take the shape of their containers. (ex. A slurry of cement is easy to transport and shape)

Q

How is steel processed into a liquid and why?

fluids in processing materials

A

Materials such as steel are processed into a liquid by heating it to a high temperature so that the mixture can be melted together. The liquid steel can now be shaped into different shapes and forms and allowed to cool back into a solid.

Q

Give examples of uses for fluids.

*At least 3

A

Examples of uses of fluids:

  • oil is added to the engine of a car to decrease friction, and to reduce noise, heat, and wear.
  • paint is applied to iron to create a barrier that prevents rust from forming.
  • they can be used to cool machines, like in a refrigerator
  • fluid circulating in a radiator can warm a room
  • Gaseous fluids can be forced into a smaller volume, like air being pumped into a bicycle tire.
