Flight Instruments, Displays Flashcards
Identify where ground speed and true airspeed are displayed
- Ground speed: Top left corner of the ADI
- Ground speed: On the FMS, POS REF page
- True Airspeed: TAS/SAT indicator
- True Airspeed: FMS, Progress page 2
Know if the VOR / DME switch on the mode control panel is in the MAN mode, moving the EFIS control panel HSI mode selector from MAP to any position except PLAN, then returning to MAP, will cause the VOR / DME switch to return to AUTO.
Recall that stations displayed in green on the HSI map display
represent stations that are either being AUTO tuned or have been MAN (manually) tuned using the VOR/DME control panel.
Recall how to display LOC (Localizer) DME
- Place the EFIS control panel in EXP ILS or FULL ILS or APP (as
installed) - Read the LOC DME mileage on the RDMI preceded by the
letter L and reference the ILS DME mileage in the upper left
corner of the HSI
Recall that an ILS frequency can only be manually tuned on the ILS Control Panel.
Recall the VNAV Vertical Deviation scale range is +/- 400 feet.
Recall the standby ADI has an attitude source that is self-contained
Discuss the function of the PLI (Pitch Limit Indicator)
- Indicates pitch limit (stick shaker activation point for the existing flight conditions).
Recall that flags will be displayed for inoperative flight instruments
Recall what ADI indications are displayed during excessive
glideslope or localizer deviation.
- The deviation scale turns from white to amber and the pointer
flashes
Recall on the ADI where references for F/ S (fast or slow) airspeed are displayed.
- The left side of the ADI
Identify the aircraft heading when looking at various HSI displays.
See LOD for pictures
Identify where the wind direction and speed are displayed
- In the bottom left corner of the HSI.
Explain what the altitude range “green” arc indicates during climb or descent.
- The “Green Arc” predicts where the aircraft will reach the
selected MCP altitude and considers ground speed and vertical speed in its calculations.
Identify the active waypoint on the MAP and on the FMS MCDU
- Magenta in the MAP mode.
- Line L1 on the active LEGS page.
- Line L1 on the PROGRESS page 1.
