Airplane General, Emergency Equipment, Doors, Windows Flashcards
(756) Recall the location and function of the flight deck light override (LT OVRD) switch.
- the switch is located on the overhead panel
- the switch overrides normal flight deck lighting controls and illuminates various flight deck lights to their maximum brightness
(All) Recall the location and explain the function of each position of the FLight Deck Emergency Lights (EMER LIGHTS) switch.
- The switch is located on the overhead panel
- OFF - Prevents emergency lights system operation if the airplane electrical power fails or is turned off
- ARMED - All emergency lights illuminate if airplane electrical power fails or is turned off
- ON - All emergency lights illuminate
(ALL) What does the Passenger Cabin Emergency lights (EMERGENCY LIGHTS) switch do?
- Activates all emergency lights regardless of flight deck switch position
- Located on the flight attendant panel
(ALL) Identify the number and location of all normal entry / exit doors and emergency exits (includes cockpit sliding windows, entry / exit doors and over wing emergency exits.
- All 757’s and 767s have 2 cockpit sliding windows which may be used as emergency exits
- Most 757’s have 6 entry doors and 4 overwing emergency exit doors
- Some 757’s have 6 entry doors and 2 emergency exit doors aft of the wing (with no overwing exits)
- Most 767’s have 4 entry doors and 4 overwing emergency exit doors
- Some 767s have 6 entry doors and 2 overwing exit doors
NOTE: The aircraft differences section in Vol 1 lists differences by aircraft type and ship number
(ALL) Locate and identify the flight deck indications for entry / service doors
- The ENTRY DOORS light is located on the overhead panel
- An ENTRY DOORS light and EICAS advisory message(s)
ENTRY DOORS LIGHT
- Illuminated (amber) - an entry door is not closed, and latched and locked
NOTE: an EICAS advisory message(s) will show which specific doors are not closed, and latched, and locked.
If multiple doors are open on the same side of the aircraft, the EICAS message for that side will change to doors
(ALL 756) Locate and describe the flight deck indications for emergency, cargo and E & E access compartment doors
- The door lights are located on the overhead panel
EMERGENCY (EMER) DOORS light and EICAS message
- Illuminated (amber) - a forward or aft (left or right) emergency door, or wing slide door is not closed and latched and locked
CARGO DOORS LIGHT AND EICAS MESSAGE
- Illuminated (amber) - the forward or aft cargo compartment door (or the bulk cargo door on the 767) is not closed and latched and locked.
ACCESS DOORS LIGHT AND EICAS MESSAGE
- Illuminated (amber) - the forward equipment bay or the electrical equipment compartment door is not closed and latched and locked.
(ALL) Specify the recommended minimum pavement width for a 180 degree turn
- 757-200 : 120’
- 757-300 : 141’
- 767-300 : 146’
Describe the relationship of the nose, wingtip and tail during a turn
- The turn radius of the wingtip is largest on all airplanes
- The turn radius of the tail is larger than the turn radius of the nose on all airplanes
- The turn radius of the nose is less than both the wingtip and the tail turn radius on all airplanes
(756) Recall the location of the bulk cargo compartment door
- the door is located on the left aft fuselage of the aircraft
(757/767) Explain the meaning of an illuminated Emergency Lights (EMER LIGHTS) UNARMED light
- Illuminated (amber) - the emergency lighting system has been manually activated or the EMER LIGHTS switch is OFF
(757/767) Explain the meaning of any illuminated VALVE light
- Disagreement (disagrees with them commanded valve position)
(All) Recall the minimum crew oxygen pressure required for dispatch
- 1000 psi on the EICAS STATUS page
(756) Describe the function of the Passenger Oxygen (PASS OXY) switch and the meaning of a Passenger Oxygen (PASS OXY) ON light
PASSENGER OXYGEN (PASS OXY) SWITCH
- Push - the passenger cabin oxygen masks drop
PASSENGER OXYGEN (PASS OXY) ON light
- Illuminated (amber) - the passenger oxygen system is operating and the masks have dropped
