Fire Protection Flashcards
Describe the indications of an engine fire warning
- (ALL FIRES) The fire bell sounds
- (ALL FIRES) The Master WARNING lights illuminate
- (ALL FIRES) The forward discrete FIRE warning light illuminates
- (ENGINE FIRE) The engine fire switch LEFT or RIGHT fire
warning light illuminates and the respective engine fire switch electrically unlocks - (ENGINE FIRE) The engine FUEL CONTROL switch fire
warning light illuminates. - (ENGINE FIRE) The EICAS warning message L or R ENGINE FIRE displays
Describe the indications of an APU fire warning
- (ALL FIRES) The fire bell sound
- (ALL FIRES) The Master WARNING lights illuminate
- (ALL FIRES) The forward discrete FIRE warning light illuminates
- (APU FIRE) The APU fire switch fire warning light illuminates and the APU fire switch electrically unlocks
- (APU FIRE) The EICAS warning message APU FIRE displays
- (APU FIRE) the APU automatically shuts down
Describe the indications of a cargo fire warning
- (ALL FIRES) The fire bell sound
- (ALL FIRES) The Master WARNING lights illuminate
- (ALL FIRES) The forward discrete FIRE warning light illuminates
- (CARGO FIRE) the FWD or AFT cargo fire warning light
illuminates - (CARGO FIRE) the EICAS warning message FWD or AFT
CARGO FIRE displays
Recall the fire detection and extinguishing capabilities of the wheel wells.
Fire Warning
- The Main gear wheel well has fire detection capability but does not have extinguishing capability.
- The Nose gear wheel well has no detection or extinguishing
capabilities
The indications of a WHEEL WELL fire warning are:
- (ALL FIRES) The fire bell sound
- (ALL FIRES) The Master WARNING lights illuminate
- (ALL FIRES) The forward discrete FIRE warning light illuminates
- (WHEEL WELL FIRE ) the WHL WELL FIRE warning light above
the landing gear lever illuminates - (WHEEL WELL FIRE) the EICAS warning message WHEEL
WELL FIRE displays
Recall the meaning of an illuminated SYS FAIL (system fail) FAIL P-RESET light
- Indicates a failure of the detectors in one of the following systems:
- Engine Fire (2 loops and BOTH loops have failed)
- Engine Overheat (2 loops and BOTH loops have failed)
- APU Fire (2 loops and BOTH loops have failed)
- Cargo Fire (2 smoke detectors and BOTH detectors have
failed
System Fail Reset switch (FAIL P – RESET)
- Push – extinguishes the FAIL P-RESET light and allows
monitoring of the remaining systems (The pilot will be directed to accomplish this via the QRH).
Describe the meaning of an illuminated ENG BTL, APU BTL or CARGO FIRE BTL DISCH light.
- The extinguisher bottle has been discharged or has low pressure.
Recall the function of the Engine or APU fire override switch
- Unlocks the respective engine or APU fire switch
Describe the indications of a L/R ENG OVHT(Engine Overheat) caution.
- Indicates an engine overheat is detected.
The indications of a L/R ENG OVHT caution are:
- The caution beeper sounds.
- The Master CAUTION lights illuminate
- The L/R ENG OVHT light illuminates
- The EICAS caution message L/R ENG OVHT
Recall what will happen if you trim the stabilizer using the electric pitch trim switches on the control wheel during single or multiple autopilot operation.
- If a single autopilot is engaged, electric (control wheel) trimming causes the autopilot to disengage
- If multiple autopilots are engaged, the electric (control wheel) trim switches are inhibited.
Recall what will happen if you trim the stabilizer using the
alternate pitch trim switches on the pedestal while an autopilot is engaged.
- Alternate trimming DOES NOT cause autopilot disengagement.
- The UNSCHED STAB TRIM light will illuminate.
