Flight Instruments Flashcards
What is calibrated airspeed? (CAS)
Calibrated airspeed is indicated airspeed corrected for instrument and position errors and is the speed at which the airplane is travelling through the air.
What is indicated airspeed? (IAS)
Indicated airspeed is the speed shown on the instrument dial and is uncorrected for instrument or system errors.
What is true airspeed? (TAS)
True airspeed is calibrated airspeed corrected for temperature and pressure.
What is equivalent airspeed? (EAS)
Equivalent airspeed is calibrated airspeed corrected for compression of the air inside the pitot tube.
Acceleration can cause what erroneous indication on an attitude indicator?
Acceleration can cause an erroneous nose-up indication on an attitude indicator.
Deceleration can cause what erroneous indication on an attitude indicator?
Deceleration can cause an erroneous nose-down reading on an attitude indicator.
Magnetic fields created by the aircraft’s components and engine can erroneous compass indications. What are these indications called?
Magnetic deviation.
