Q

What are the instructor’s responsibilities when it comes to student solo flight?

A

The instructor is the only one who can determine if the student is ready for solo flight.
Before endorsing the student the instructor must require the student to demonstrate consistent performance in all fundamental maneuvers.
Do not allow the student to get by with substandard performance.
Student must have 20 hours dual instruction, SFAR 73 pre-solo endorsement, and awareness training.

Q

What are the instructor’s responsibilities when making an endorsement for a practical test?

A

The instructor is required to make the applicant thoroughly demonstrate the knowledge and performance skills appropriate for the certificate or rating.

A CFI endorsement verifies this performance and the CFI is held accountable and responsible.

The training must follow the federal regulations and standards. Examiners are depending on CFIs to train to these standards.
