Flight Controls Flashcards
What effect does Flap setting have on available Rudder Deflection?
Flaps up mechanical limit is +/- 12 deg, Flaps extended limit is +/- 18 deg
What is the function of the Yaw Damper?
Reduces the tendency of the aircraft to Dutch Roll.
How is the Rudder deflection affected by Airspeed?
Hydraulic pressure to the PCUs is progressively reduced as airspeed increases to limit rudder deflection for a given pedal input.
How would a Jam in the Rudder PCU be indicated?
PUSH OFF illuminating in the associated Rudder switch light.
If the Roll Disconnect Handle is pulled, which Controls would the RH Control Wheel operate?
Ailerons
What precaution must be taken before checking the Control Trims pre-flight?
Gust lock must be removed while the Aileron trim is exercised.
How are the Aerodynamic loads reduced?
Geared Tabs.
When are the Outboard Roll Spoilers active?
170 kts
What would be the indications of a Spoiler Cable Failure?
Both ROLL SPLR INB HYD and ROLL SPLR OUTBD HYD Cautions will illuminate.
What triggers the Ground Spoilers to extend on landing?
WOW sensors activated and PL
What is the function of FLIGHT/TAXI Switch on the Glareshield?
Retracts spoilers for Taxi
How is the integrity of the Elevator Control System protected from a control Jam.
Bungees
What is the function of “Automatic FLAP Pitch - TRIM”?
Reduces pitch and trim forces as the Flap travels between 15 deg and 35 deg with AP not engaged
What does illumination of the ELEVATOR TRIM SHUT OFF Switchlight indicate?
Trim-runaway
As well as moving the Flaps, what is the effect of moving the Flap selector from 0 deg to 5 deg?
Removes the +/- 12 Rudder restriction, PTU and SPU come on if park brake off
