Flight Controls Flashcards
How many air spoilers and what Hyd system?
4 on each wing (8 in total) - Split between A+B Hyd
How many ground spolilers and hyd system?
4 from A hyd
What does flight detent do to the spoilers?
Raises to 50%
When would Mach Trim automatically start and in what direction?
0.615M - Nose Up
What does Stab Trim Override do?
Allows you to trim in any direction (not just the direction of your control column)
What does Stab Trim Cutout do?
Removes electric trim completely (and will mean A/P can’t engage too)
What flap settings does Flap Load Relief apply to on SFP aircraft?
10-40deg
What flap settings does Flap Load Relief apply on non-SFP aircraft?
30-40deg
What speed does Flap Load Relief start to Retract (relative to limit speed)
+1 knot
What speed does Flap Load Relief start to Extend (relative to limit speed)
-4 knots
What speed does the PCU reduce rudder yaw authority and by how much?
> 135kts and by 25%
What does the Yaw Damper provide?
Dutch roll prevention
Turn Coordination
Gust Damping
Using Alternate Flap - How long between button presses?
15 secs
Using Alternate Flap - How long between full cycle?
5 mins
What feel system does the Rudder have?
Spring feel
What flap settings do autoslats work on?
F1-5 or (F1-25 on SFP) (from extended to fully extended)
What devices have skew protection?
TE flaps and LE slats
What devices have asymmetry protection?
TE flaps (not on alternate elec motor)
Uncommanded motion and what indication?
Both TE & LE flaps - LE Transit light
Spoiler - DO NOT ARM indication?
Abnormal or test, or spoilers not down with wheel speed <60kts
Spoiler - EXTENDED indication (in air and on ground)
In Air - Landing config or <800ft AGL with spoilers not stowed
On Ground - Down detent but not stowed
What are the conditions for ground spoiler auto deployment?
Lever in armed position
RA<10ft
Wheel speed >60kts
Thrust levers - idle
Right main gear compresses
What are the conditions for round spoiler deployment on RTO?
Wheel speed >60kts
Thrust levers - idle
and Reverse Thrust
LE Device positions with Alternate Flaps (when down has been pressed)
Fully extended for LE Slats and LE Flaps
Non-SFP/SFP - LE Flaps fully-extended when?
Always
Non-SFP - LE Slats fully-extended when?
F10-40
Non-SFP - LE Slats extended when?
F1-5
SFP - LE Slats extended when?
F1-25
SFP - LE Slats fully-extended when?
F30-40
SFP - Changes from non-SFP
FMC Software revision
Reduced idle thrust delay after touchdown - 2s App Idle to Grd Idle (5s without)
Increased spoiler deflection on ground
Sealed slats for take-off flap positions F1-25 (more lift at slower speeds)
Winglet lift credited to reduce stall speed
SFP - Ground spoiler changes
52deg to 60deg
SFP - Flight spoiler changes
33-38deg to 60 deg (ground only)
SFP - Whats the goal for takeoffs?
Reduce runway by 70m - TOM by 1700kg, by lowering V2
SFP - Whats the goal for landing
Reduce runway by 100m at least - MLW up by 4730kg
Capt roll wire goes to where?
Ailerons
FO roll wire goes to where?
Spoilers
What does ALTERNATE FLAPS red switch do?
activates the standby electric motor–driven pump
closes the trailing edge flap bypass valve
arms the ALTERNATE FLAPS position switch
allows the standby system to power the leading edge flaps and slats and thrust reversers.
