Flight Controls Flashcards
To minimize side loads on landing gear during touchdown, the pilot should keep the
longitudinal axis of the aircraft parallel to the direction of it’s motion.
What are flaps and what are they used for?
The wing flaps are movable panels on the inboard trailing edges of the wings. They extend to increase both lift and drag. They permit lower airspeed and steeper angle of descent during landing.
What are the main control surfaces and what are their purpose?
Elevator- Controls movement on a lateral axis “pitch”
Ailerons- Control movement on a longitudinal axis “roll”
Rudder- Control movement on a vertical axis “yaw”
Trim Tabs- Adjustable surface, labor saving for the pilot
What is Cruise at 100 knots
2300 RPM and +2.5 pitch
