Flight Controls Flashcards
Where do you find trim settings for take off?
N-13 in the QRH
Where are the trim tabs (not balance tabs) located on the aircraft?
Left Wing Aileron, Rudder, Stabilizer
During primary trim (high and low speed) how is trim controlled?
The pilot or Mach trim
What speed does the secondary trim motor operate?
Low speed only
What controls trim during secondary trim operations?
Auto-pilot or back up trim (pilot operated secondary mode)
How does the pilot interrupt trim motors?
Using the red MSW button
At what point does spoileron mode start to match aileron position to assist in roll?
Anytime past the 25° flap switch with Spoiler lever in the RET or ARM position.
What is the limited spoiler deployment with spoileron mode in operations.
Spoilers are limited to 15° of deployment
How do the ailerons actuate?
Using cables and pulleys allowing for immediate responsiveness.
The auto pilot roll servo actuator also mechanically controls the ailerons in the roll axis
How are the flaps and spoilers actuated?
Electronically controlled, Hydraulically actuated
What conditions would give you a PITCH TRIM annunciation? (6 conditions)
- Pressing the MSW(red button)
- PITCH TRIM is off
- In secondary trim trying to trim using primary
- trim motor malfunction (low should be high or high should be low)
- Secondary PT circuit breaker is out
- Mach trim motor detects a fault (mach trim)(pitch trim)lights
At what point does MACH TRIM engage automatically?
At speeds greater than 0.70Mach and autopilot disengaged
Where does Mach trim receive airspeed information from?
ADC 1 or 2 (pilot selected)
In order to use rudder boost what 4 conditions must be present?
Rudder boost on (pilot switch)
Both Avionics Masters on
Past the 3° flap switch
More than 50lbs of pressure applied on either rudder pedal
What is the purpose of Yaw servo?
Provides automatic stabilization about the yaw axis and also used for Rudder boost
