Flight Control System Flashcards
G Limits
32,000 - 42,097 : -3.0 - +7.5
42,097 - 57,405 : -2.2 - +5.5
57,405 - 66,000 (no GLIM) : -2.0 - +4.8
Flight Control System
Full Authority Control Augmentation System (CAS)
2 AHRS (Attitude Heading Reference Sets)
Left and Right AOA, Pitot Static Temp Probes
All provide inputs to two flight control computers, each of two channels and provides input to the actuators to move the 12 control surfaces
AHRS (Attitude Heading Reference Set)
One per FCC
Provide rate and accelerometer data to respective FCC
Has an RSA (Rate Sensor Accelerometer) and and ASA (Acceleration Sensor Assemblies)
RSA (Rate Sensor Accelerometer)
Has 2 sets of 3 ring gyros
- One for pitch, roll, and yaw
Displayed on FCS page as CAS P, R, Y
ASA (Acceleration Sensor Assemblies)
2 Sets of accelerometers that sense aircraft vertical and lateral G’s
Displayed on FCS page as N ACC and L ACC
Basic Weight of E/F and RAG Configured Jet
E - 31.5
F - 32.0
RAG - 34.0
Pitot/Static/Total Temperature Probes (PTS)
Left Pressure Probe supplies FCC 1&4
Right Pressure Probe supplies FCC 2&3
Left Temp goes to FCC 2
Right Temp goes to FCC 4
Standby Gauges Run Off Which PTS Sources
Left Pitot
Second Static Source
T/O Trim
Uses fixed gains to get aircraft airborne
Maintains T/O trim for first 12sec of flight
WonW - Drives stab to 4deg TEU, roll & yaw trim to neutral
WoffW - Drives roll & yaw trim neutral, does not affect pitch trim
GAIN ORIDE
Selects fixed CAS gains if FCS malfunctions

Yaw Rate Tone
Comes on at 40deg/sec
Steady at 60deg/sec
AOA Tone
Comes on at 14deg AOA
Steady at 35deg AOA
MAX G-LIM
Paddle switch allows GLIM override up to 33% (10G Max)
