Grip the football
1-3 fingers on the laces with index near point
Throwing
Bring ball back to your ear with elbow up. Step with opposite football and follow through towards your target
Catching
Use the finger pads to catch the football and allow give
Ball thrown above your waist: thumbs and index fingers together to make triangle
Ball thrown bellow waist: Pinkys together
Carrying the football
Fingers spread around point. Make 4 pts of contact: hand, forearm, biceps, and chest.
Blocking
Player must screen defender by moving feet and staying between defender, no shoulder blocks
Taking a Handoff
Form pocket with one arm across chest and other across stomach to allow the ball to be placed in stomach
Line of scrimmage
Imaginary line where the ball rests at beginning of each play. No one is allowed to cross the line until the snap.
Cadence
Words or numbers used by the quarterback to signal the center to snap the ball
Blitz
When the defense rushes the quarterback without counting first
Forward pass
Ball thrown from behind the line of scrimmage toward the opponents goal line
Interception
A forward pass thrown by the offense that is caught by the defense
Quaterback
Position on offense who calls the cadence and throws or hands off the ball
Center
Position on offense who is in charge of snapping the football to the quarterback
Wide Reciever
Position on offense who catches the football
Running back
Position on offense who runs with the football
