Fixed mindset Flashcards
Fixed Mindset: Cannot Change /Avoidance & Excuses
People and teams with a fixed mindset believe that their abilities and intelligence cannot change. When challenges are presented, you avoid or give up easily. For example, say you get an F on a test, and you believe that you cannot do any better. You will start avoiding that subject or come up with excuses as to why you are not doing well. With a fixed mindset, we do this because we do not want to feel dumb.
Fixed Mindset: My experience / Saving egos
In my career, I have worked for companies that lean towards a fixed mindset. As soon as challenges arose, you could see the team withdraw, you could see a lack of effort and avoidance. This happens when a culture or people have a fixed mindset because a fixed mindset that if you fail or if you wrong than you are defined by that performance, when you feel you are defined by a moment you avoid it to protect your ego.
Fixed mindset: Ineffective teams
This is obviously a seriously unhealthy environment to be in. If individuals within the team are not open to face challenges, and grow from failure than the entire team fails.
