Definition of health
State of complete physical, mental, social well-being and not merely the absence of disease.
Definition of ill health
Being in a state of poor physical, mental and/or social well being.
Definition of fitness
The ability to meet/cope with the demands of the environment.
Agility?
Is the ability to change direction with speed.
Balance?
Is the ability of the performer to retain their centre of mass over their base of support.
Cardio-vascular endurance?
The ability of the heart and circulatory system the demands of the the body for a long period of time.
Co-ordination?
Is the ability to move two or more body parts at the same time.
Flexibility?
The range of movement at the joint.
Muscular endurance?
The ability to use voluntary muscles over a long period of time without getting tired.
Power / expolsive strength?
speed x strength
Reaction time?
The time between the presentation of stimulus and movement.
Different types of strength?
Dynamic Strength
Maximal Strength
Explosive Strength
Static Strength
Dynamic Strength?
used in events that take a long time to complete.
Maximal Strength?
The greatest force that is possible in a single maximal contraction.
Explosive Strength?
When a burst of maximal effort is required.
