EU membership which means other countries can fish in Irish water. Also modern trawlers are well equipped. Trawler skippers detection methods radar and sonar to locate shoals. Nets are invisible and unbreakable. hydraulic winches can lift and tonnes of fish. Cold rooms allow fish to stay at say for ages.

The Irish conservation box is an important spanning ground for Herring, mackerel, hake and haddock. fishing is restricted here. Trawlers from other countries outside the EU are not allowed to fish in EU waters.
