What is whiriling disease?
it is a two stage parasite that infects the salmonid species (includes trout and mountain whitefish)
What is stage one of whirling disease?
Myxospores (parasite) in fish feces drop to the bottom of th elake which is eaten by tubifex worms
What is stage two of whirling disease?
Tubifex worms die which releases the actinospore phase into th ewater that enters salmonids by the gills or digestive system
Why is whirling disease bad?
it causes physical deformations
What is so worrisome about whirling disease?
it is really easy to transfer and very specific protocol has to be taken when working with it.
