First line treatment against C.Diff
Metronidazole for mild to moderate
What is the first line treatment for Skin and soft tissue bacteria infections?
Non-severe: Flucloxacillin oral 1g QDS for 5days
Severe: Flucloxacillin IV 1-2g QDS
Penicillin allergy:
Non-severe: Doxycycline oral 200mg OD for 5days
Severe: Clindamycin IV 450-600mg QDS
Treatment for Osteomyelitis
Flucloxacillin IV 2g QDS for 6 weeks. First 2 weeks must be IV.
Penicillin allergy:
Clindamycin IV 900mg TDS for 6 weeks. First 2 weeks must be IV.
Rx for meningitis?
1st line: Ceftriaxone
Rx for uncomplicated P. Falciparum
1st line: ACT - Artemisinin Combination Therapy: Riamet (Artemether + Lumefantrine) 4tbl A/L 20/120 bd for 3 days
OR Malarone ( Proguanil + Atovaquone) 4tbl od for 3 days
Alt. Quinine 600mg od for 7 days + Doxycycline 100mg od for 2 weeks if not pregnant (Alt. Clindamycin or F
Rx for lobar pneumonia/bronchopneumonia caused by Streptococcus Pneumoniae
Amoxicillin
and Clarithromycin if severe (IV)
