first flight lesson manuevers Flashcards

1
Q

normal takeoff

A

flaps 0
place control yoke fully into the wind
smoothly apply full power
check flight and engine instruments
rotate at 75kias or POH computed speed
accelerate to 88 KIAS
with a positive rate of climb retract the landing gear
at 1000’ AGL pitch for 105 KIAS and reduce to 25” MAP and 2500 RPM

Q

normal landing

A

Downwind 100 KIAS
before landing checklist complete
abeam the touchdown point gear down, flaps 10 degrees
on base flaps 25 degrees, airspeed 90KIAS
turning final flaps full, airspeed 80 KIAS

Q

slow flight

A

be atleast 3000’ AGL
clearing turns
cowl flaps open
retard throttles to 15” MAP
Gear down below 140 KIAS
full flaps below 111 KIAS
Propellers high RPM
Maintain heading and altitude while reducing speed
power as required to maintain minimum controllable airspeed
altitude and heading changes as specified

Recovery
propellers high RPM
throttles full forward
retract flaps 25
gear up
retract remaining flaps
cowl flaps are required
assume cruise airspeed and power

Q

power on stall

A

clearing turns
retard throttles to 15” MAP
Cowl flaps open
propellers high RPM
at 75 kts - apply 65% power, 20” MAP
gradually increase the angle of attack
initiate recovery at first indication of the stall

Recovery
reduce angle of attack
pitch for Vy or Vx as appropriate
propellers high RPM
throttles full forward
assume cruise airspeed and power

Q

power off stall

A

clearing turns
retard throttles to 15” MAP
gear down below 140 KIAS
full flaps below 111 KIAS
propellers high RPM
Stabilize the airplane at 80 KTS
throttles idle
establish a pitch attitude, straight ahead and in 20 degrees, +-5 degrees, bank turns, that will induce a stall
initiate recovery at first indication of the stall

Rcovery
reduce angle of attack
pitch for Vy or Vx as appropriate
propellers full forward
throttles full forward
retract flaps to 25 degrees
gear up when positive rate is achieved
retract remaining flaps
resume cruise airspeed and power

Q

accelerated stall

A

clearing turns
retard throttles to 15” MAP
Propellers high RPM
at 95 KIAS enter and maintain 45 bank
increase backpressure until stall occurs
initiate recovery at first indication of the stall

Recovery
release backpressure
propellers high RPM
throttles full forward
recover to straight and level attitude
return to cruise configuration when cruise airspeed is established

steep turn

A

clearing turns
power as required, approximately 2300 rpm, 21” manifold pressure
airspeed at 120 kias
roll into 50 bank and continue 360 of turn
