First aid is the immediate and temporary care given to a person who has been injured or becomes ill or incapacitated before train help arrives and takes over

What are the guidelines for ‘administering ‘first aid”?
Keep calm, assess the illness or injury, deal with urgent condition first, obtain information, check for emergency bracelet or other id, request assistance from medically qualified personal, passenger comfort, loosen clothing, loosen seat belt, and keep passenger informed about steps being taken.
Do you ever give liquid medications to a person who is unconscious?
No
Should you wear protective gloves before giving first aid of any kind?
Yes, always scrub first and then glove to protect yourself.
What is “ABC”?
Open Airway ( tilt head up, and chin lift); Determine if patient is breathing / Breathing ( noisy, raspy, gasping, coughing), which will dictate the level of care needed/ Circulation ( pulse determination by placing fingers on carotid artery, wrist, etc.
Keep captain informed of situation is necessary. Can the captain divert from protocol and change route?
Yes, if medically needed
Where might a person keep medical information on their person?
Check person’s wallet, clothes, wrist, neck, bracelet, or other for engraved information.
