help person sit down get comfortable
take unnecessary clothing off
cool towel and cold water
what is hypothermia
dangerous condition which core body temperature drops below 35, mild is 33-35, severe is below 32, life threatening is less than 28
signs and symptoms of hypothermia
pale skin
feeling cold
loss of concentration
slow breathing and speech
treatment of hypothermia
prevent any further heat loss take them into a warmer environment
if clothing is wet take them off and put dry clothes on
hot drinks
RICER
rest- reduces further damage ice - 20mins over 2 hours compression - reduces bleeding and swelling elevation- stops bleeding and swelling referral- refer them to a professional
CPR and compression rate
30 compressions 2 breathes
compressions should be 1/3 of the chest cavity
compression rate 100 compressions per minute
COWS
