What is a medical emergency?
A condition or injury requiring immediate care
What are the emergency procedures?
Check surroundings
call 911

After we check the surroundings, we need to examine for life threatening conditions. What are we looking for ?
airway
breathing
bleeding
Why should you not move a person from the area?
They may have suffered a back or neck injury and moving the person could cause further damage.
Only move if the person is in danger.
Who provides emergency care to sick or injured victims ?
EMT
Emergency medical technician
IF the victim is a child or infant and is NOT BREATHING, and you did not see the collapse, what should you do ?
Give 2 breaths and start CPR
If you witness a child or infant collapse and they are not breathing what should you do ?
Begin CPR
If a victim is unconscious what are the steps for care?
Shout for help
check to be sure breathing has stopped
- Either give breathes or begin CPR right away
How do you open the airway ?
Place the head in the head-tilt/chin lift position
When should someone administer abdominal thrusts?
If someone is choking but is unable to cough or speak.
What is the treatment for a choking infant?
back blows and chest compressions
what is the difference between conscious and unconscious?
Being alert and aware of surroundings.
What is the disease that is passed through the saliva of an animal?
rabies
Who treats eye diseases and disorders?
opthalmologist
What is the venom snakes release?
hemolytic
