What bleed is described by a steady even flow?
Venous bleed
Describe arterial bleed?
Bright red, gushes out in spurts that are synchronized with the heart beats.
Describe a Capillary Bleed?
Normally dark brick red in color. Oozes out slowly if capillaries are cut.
What does MIST stand for?
Mechanism of Injury, Injuries Sustained, Sign and Symptoms, Treatment
What are the different triage categories?
Priority one: immediate
Priority two: Delayed
Priority three: minor
Priority four: expected
Priority five: Dead
Explain the steps under Care Under Fire?
Use a tourniquet for life-threatening extremity hemorrhage
Explain the steps under Tactical Field Care?
Use direct pressure and or a hemostatic dressing. Once the bleeding is stopped, obtain vascular access, give resuscitative fluids, and coordinate for CASEVAC.
What is in the 9-line Medevac

What is meant by patients by precedence?
If they are urgent, urgent surgical, priority, routine, convenience
What do you do for an abdominal wound with intestines out?
Do not attempt to replace protruding internal organs or or remove any protruding foreign objects.
Apply a sterile dressing, ensure dressing is large enough to cover entire mass, do not push anything back in
What are two types of fractures?
Simple and Compound
What are the signs and treatment for shock?
Anxiety, nausea, weak pulse, thirst, pale skin, shallow breathing, enlarged pupils
maintain open airway, control breathing, keep warm, elevate legs
What is the rule of 9 used for?
Use to give a rough estimate of the surface area affected.
What percent would an adult arm be using the rule of 9?
4.5%
