BIOS stand for?
Basic Input Output System/Services
What is POST?
Power On Self Test. Diagnostic test of hardware before the OS attempted to boot.
What does BIOS allow you to do?
Interact with the Motherboard before the OS loads.
What is Firmware?
Data stored on a non volatile media.
What is a signal that POST has passed?
1 beep.
What are beep codes?
Error codes that take place before or if there is a GPU error. Requires a speaker connected to the motherboard.
If POST fails after GPU test how is this signaled?
On screen or on POST card.
What is a POST card?
A 2 digit display that displays an error code relevant to that specific motherboard which can be decoded by the manual. Built on to the motherboard or inserted into and expansion slot.
What is UEFI?
Unifed Extensible Firmware Interface. An updated version of BIOS.
