oxygen - cover with damp towel
fuel - turn off gas

why shouldnt you add water to a oil based fire
A
water is denser than oil and heat to a much higher temperature than boiling water, the water will sink to the bottom of the oil and turn into steam droplet will explode causing oil to spit out in all directions
