Fires Flashcards
Symptom:
- MGB FIRE warning light illuminated.
Possible symptoms:
- Illumination of mgb related warning and caution lights.
- Loss of xsmn oil pressure and/or rise in temperature.
- Drop in fuel or hydraulic pressure.
- Electrical system malfunction.
MGB FIRE
Corrective action:
- ATTEMPT TO CONFIRM PRESENCE OF FIRE
- 200 FT CHECKLIST - COMPLETE
If fire confirmed:
3. LAND/DITCH IMMEDIATELY
If fire not confirmed:
3. LAND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
Symptoms:
- Engine FIRE warning light illuminated.
- Red warning light illuminated on the corresponding ESFL.
- Flames and/or smoke coming from engine compartment.
- Electrical system malfunction.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE INFLIGHT
Corrective Action:
- ATTEMPT TO CONFIRM PRESENCE OF FIRE.
- SINGLE-ENGINE FLIGHT PROFILE - ESTABLISH
If fire confirmed:
3. FCS (AFFECTED ENGINE) - CONFIRM; IDLE CONFIRM; OFF.
4. ESFL (AFFECTED ENGINE) - CONFIRM; OFF.
5. BOOST PUMPS ( AFFECTED ENGINE) - OFF.
6 PRI FIRE EXTINGUISHER BUTTON (AFFECTED ENGINE) - CONFIRM; PUSH.
7. SEC FIRE EXTINGUISHER BUTTON (AFFECTED ENGINE) - PUSH.
8. 200-FT CHECKLIST - COMPLETE.
If fire still persists:
9. LAND/DITCH IMMEDIATELY.
If fire no longer evident:
9. LAND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
If fire not confirmed.
3. Land as soon as practicable.
Symptoms:
- Engine FIRE warning light illuminated.
- Possible hand or voice signal from ground crew.
- Red warning light illuminated on the corresponding ESFL.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE ON DECK
Corrective Action:
- ATTEMPT TO CONFIRM PRESENCE OF FIRE.
- FCS - BOTH OFF.
- ESFL - BOTH OFF.
- BOOST PUMPS - ALL OFF.
If fire confirmed:
- PRI FIRE EXTINGUISHER BUTTON (AFFECTED ENGINE) - CONFIRM; PUSH.
- SEC FIRE EXTINGUISHER BUTTON (AFFECTED ENGINE) - PUSH.
- EMERGENCY ELECTRICAL CUTOFF - OFF.
- ROTOR BRAKE.
- EVACUATE AIRCRA
Symptoms:
- Smoke/fumes/sparks originating from a single component inside the cabin.
2 Smoke/fumes/sparks originating from an unknown component inside the cabin.
INTERNAL FIRE (CABIN, ELECTRICAL AND/OR AVIONICS)
Corrective Action:
- DESIGNATE CREW MEMBER TO FIGHT FIRE.
- AFFECTED EQUIPMENT - OFF.
- CIRCUIT BREAKERS - PULL( AFFECTED CIRCUITS).
- RACK BLOWER CIRCUIT BREAKER - PULL (FOR AV RACK FIRE ONLY).
- HEAT/COOL SWITCHES - OFF.
- RAIM AIR, DOORS, AND CP WINDOW - CLOSE.
- 200-FT CHECKLIST - COMPLETE.
If electrical or avionics fire still persists:
8. EMERGENCY ELECTRICAL CUTOFF - OFF.
If electrical or avionics fire still persists:
9. LAND/DITCH IMMEDIATELY.
If fire goes out:
10. LAND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
SMOKE AND FUME ELIMINATION
Corrective Action:
- HEAT/COOL SWITCH - OFF.
- RAM AIR, CABIN SLIDING DOOR & CP WINDOWN -OPEN.
- Land as soon as practicable.
Symptoms:
- TOT rises rapidly after FCS has been placed in the OFF position.
- TOT does not decrease within 10 seconds after FCS has been placed in the OFF position.
ENGINE POST-SHUTDOWN FIRE
Corrective Action:
- FADEC CONTROL SWITCH - CHECK OFF.
- BOOST PUMPS - CHECK OFF.
- ESFL (AFFECTED ENGINE) - OFF.
If high TOT still evident after 10 seconds:
4. CRANK BUTTON - DEPRESS UNTIL TOT DECREASES
If TOT still continues to rise or does not decrease:
- EMERGENCY ELECTRICAL CUTOFF - OFF.
- ROTOR BRAKE.
- EVACUATE AIRCRAFT.
Symptom:
- Fire detector FAIL light illuminated.
FIRE DETECTOR FAILURE
Corrective Action:
- land as soon as practicable.
Symptom:
- L EXT or R EXT caution light illuminated.
FIRE SUPPRESSION FAILURE
Corrective Action:
- abort mission.
