What is an air gun?
Air rifle, air pistol or weapon where the use of gas or compressed air discharges any shot, missile, projectile or bullet.
License required for a 16 - 18 year old
When must a firearms license holder inform police of a change of address?
Within 30 days
if unable to produce fire arms license how long does the holder have to show police?
7 days
Firearm definition
Anything adapted,
Anything not capable for a time but when corrected or repaired can,
Anything partially dismantled,
from which a shot, bullet, missile or projectile can be discharged by force of explosion.
AND an especially dangerous air gun
Pistol definition
Firearm that is designed or adapted to be held with one hand. Up to 762mm long.
Define prohibited firearm
Semi automatic firearm or shotgun
Pump action shotgun with detachable and non detachable magazine
Any other firearm declared by order of council under sec 74A to be prohibited
Section 66 of the Arms act 1983?
Any occupier of land or driver of a vehicle where any firearm etc is found is deemed to be the owner unless they prove that it is not their property
Definition of possession in relation to firearms?
A possessor is a person who has knowledge of the firearm and physical control over it NOT just carrying on their person
Under 66B what details can be demanded from a person in possession of a firearm etc?
Full name, Address and date of birth.
If the person refuses to give these details then a warning must be given first that failure to do so will result in arrest.
Section 18 SASA?
Power to search and seize firearms if RGTS they are on a person, place or vehicle.
