Q

(T/F) Both loops are required for dispatch of an aircraft, this is because both loops must detect a fire and if one is inop. the bell would never go off, even if the engine is on fire.

A

17
Q

When on the ground, if the APU detects a fire it will automatically shutdown if the EMER STOP button is not pressed within ___ seconds

A

10 seconds

18
Q

APU FIRE DET FAIL on EICAS means what?

A

Both APU fire loops have failed

19
Q

There is ___ fire extinguishing bottles for the APU

A

1

20
Q

APU FIREX FAIL on EICAS means what?

A

Some part of the APU fire bottle has failed

21
Q

When the APU EMER STOP button is pressed, what message should appear on EICAS?

A

APU FUEL SOV CLOSED

22
Q

What message should appear on EICAS when you discharge the APU fire bottle?

A

APU FIREXBTL DISCH

23
Q

In the rear cargo compartment, smoke must be detected by ___ smoke detectors in order to get an alarm

A

2

24
Q

What are ALL the indications of a fire in the rear cargo compartment?

A
MASTER WARNING
Fire bell
AFT CARGO SMOKE button illuminates
CRG AFT SMOKE on EICAS in red
CRG AFT FIREX HI ARM on EICAS in blue
25
Q

What happens if only one detector in the FWD cargo compartment detects smoke?

A

The Re-circulation fan is shut off for 60 seconds. If in the next 45 seconds another smoke detector detects smoke the fire is considered confirmed
If no smoke is detected in the 45 second window the system is considered failed

26
Q

(T/F) If only one smoke detector is operative in each compartment and it detects smoke, it will give a warning to the cockpit immediately

A

True

27
Q

CRG AFT (FWD) FIRE SYS FAIL on EICAS means what?

A

All the smoke detectors in the respective compartment are failed

This is a caution message

28
Q

CRG FIRE PROT FAULT on EICAS means what?

A

A smoke detector is faulty and you’re on the ground. There is still at least one detector left in that compartment

29
Q

If you see CRG FWD VENT FAIL message during a fire test, this means what?

A

The FWD cargo vent fan did not shut down during the test

30
Q

What is the difference between the high rate discharge and the low rate discharge bottles in the cargo compartments?

A

The high rate will fill the cargo compartment with the necessary halon to extinguish the fire

The low rate will prevent reignition of a fire for up to 60 minutes.

31
Q

When you have a cargo fire warning,

Pushing the cargo fire button once does what?

Pushing it a second time does what?

A

The first push will deploy the high rate discharge bottle into the respective cargo compartment. The low rate will arm and automatically discharge after one minute.

Pushing the cargo button a second time bypasses the one minute delay for the low rate discharge bottle and discharges it immediately

32
Q

What happens if you push the cargo fire button without a cargo fire warning?

A

The first push will arm the bottle. It will automatically disarm after 2 minutes. If you push the button a second time it will automatically discharge the HRD bottle. If in flight the LRD bottle will fire automatically after 4 minutes. If on the ground a third push of the button will fire the bottle

33
Q

What EICAS message would you see if there was smoke in the lavatory?

A

LAV SMOKE in red

This would also have a master warning sound

34
Q

If a lavatory smoke test is conducted the master warning and EICAS message will remain for ___ seconds after releasing the test button

A

7 seconds

35
Q

What does LAV SMOKE FAIL on EICAS mean?

A

The lavatory smoke fire test failed

36
Q

The waste bin fire extinguisher will automatically discharge at ___C

A

78 C

37
Q

The landing gear overheat detection is a ___ (single/dual) loop system

A

Dual
