Fire Protection Flashcards
How many hand held extinguishers are on the plane
3 - halon = flight deck, front left storage bin, front closet
1 - water = aft storage bin
How is a fire reported in a two loop system
Both loops must detect a fire. If one fails the computer knows and operates off one loop
What type detectors exist in the lav and cargo areas
LAV = normal smoke detector Cargo = lazier smoke detector
What happens after pushing the ENG FIRE PUSH
- Arms squibs
- Shuts off IDG
- Closes PRSOV valve
- Inhibits continuous ignition
- Closes fuel, hydraulic, pneumatic SOVs
What is protected by the fire loops
- APU
- Engines
- Leading edges
What’s the protection I the main landing gear bay
A single loop fire detection system
What happens if smoke is detected in the lav
Automatic discharge of the halon bottle
How many system fire bottles are on the aircraft
- 2 serve both engines
- 2 cargo
- 1 APU
What indications would you receive following an engine fire
- Master warning, triple chime
- Fire bell
- Fire push switch light
- L/R ENG FIRE warning
What’s the difference between a FIRE FAIL caution
FIRE SYS FAULT caution
FIRE SYS FAULT status
- FIRE FAIL caution = both loops have failed
- FIRE SYS FAULT caution = communication between AIRINC and FIDEX system is not happening
- FIRE SYS FAULT status = a single loop has failed
What bus is the engine fire push light on
DC emergency bus
Describe cargo bottle function
Both bottles blow but one is a fast release bottle and the other is a slow release over 60 minutes
Can you fight fire in both cargo compartments
No
Where are the cargo fire bottles located
PSM 10-20-13
Both are inside the right belly fairing
How is the lav fire extinguishing actuated
PSM 10-30-2
The end of each discharge nozzle is sealed with a heat sensitive capsule
