How is your Heli Deck protected from Fire?
-The deck head is separated by A60 class standard.
-Shall have a main and emergency escape, located as
far apart as possible.
-Foam applicators (for at least 5 minutes in all wx
conditions)
-Must have a Heli Operations Manual. includes
description and checklist for emergency response
procedures and equipment
-2 Fire fighting personnel present during ops and
refueling.
-Refresher courses held on board
How many Shore Connections required onboard?
At least one.
How many Fire Pumps?
2 on Cargo and 3 on Passenger Ships
Minimum length of Fire Hoses
At least 10m But "NOT MORE THAN".. 15m in Machinery Spaces 20m in other and open decks 25m if Max Breadth exceeds 30m
What is on the Fire Plan?
Location of Fire Lockers Location of A60 Bulkheads Location of Hydrants and Extinguishers Means of access to different compartments and decks. Location of Int Shore Connection
What is an A-60 Bulkhead?
A construction of steel so insulated that it can withstand the passage of smoke or flame till the end of the 60min standard fire test. Temp will not rise on unexposed side beyond 140’C
Where are Fire plans located?
In a prominent area. Visible to officers.
In a Weather Tight tube by the gangway.
What is requirement for number of Fire Hoses on Cargo Ships?
At least one hose for every 30m of ship + a Spare. But never less than 5 in total.
What is the requirement for Fire Hoses on PAX Ships?
At least one hose for every hydrant. Must be capable of supplying two jets of water in any one area.
