Pressing causes the associated bottle’s squib to fire releasing halon gas into the engines. The APU bottle can only be fired into the APU, and the engine bottles can only be fired into the engines. Both can be used in one engine.

Yes, a pushbutton is located on the detector mounted on the ceiling. When pressed, the SMOKE AFT LAV warning message illuminates on ED1
