Q

What are the next steps if the crown does not seat?

Q

What are the objecties of adjusting the proximal contacts?

A
  • Adjust contact to lessen its tightness, but maintain size, shape and floss snap
  • Can use Shimstock between crown and adjacent tooth to see if Shimstock pulls through with resistance.
  • Most of the time, Floss tension when flossing is used to determine strength of contact.

Q

How do you check the internal fit of a crown?

A
  • Fitchecker is a material we have in the UMKC clinic
  • Place a small amount in the crown, the crown is then seated and the patient bites on a cotton roll or you can hold the crown until the material sets.
  • Remove the crown.
  • Wherever there is show through, the crown needs to be adjusted to remove the area

Q

What do you do with an overextended margin?

A
  • can be smoothed, burnished, or adjusted to bring the margin back into a smooth profile.
  • use fine grit diamond disc or Blue course polishing wheel for this adjustmen
17
Q

What do you do with an underextended margin?

A
  • generally unacceptable due to plaque accumulation and possible sensitivity.
  • a new impression should be taken if the seat in the mouth is different than the cast and die
18
Q

What do you do with an open margin?

A

a new impression is needed if the open margin does not exist on the cast and die

19
Q

Once Proximal Contacts, Internal impurities, and marginal adaptation have been deemed acceptable, check the…

A

Stability and Retention

20
Q

If the crown rocks or rotates what should you do?

A

possibly new impression is needed

21
Q

After you check proximal contacts, internal impurities, marginal adaptation, and stability you can check…

A

occlusion

22
Q

What do you need to check occlusion?

A
  • You will need Accufilm articulating paper
  • Fine Diamonds, Green stone, White Stone, Brown Stone
23
Q

How do you check occlusion?

A
  • Check in MIP first by having patient “tap tap tap” their teeth together.
  • If that occlusion is registering WNL, THEN ask patient to “close, squeeze, and grind side to side and forward and back” to analyze the excusive movements.
  • Adjustments can be made with fine diamond.
24
Q

Occlusal Contacts may cause mandible to ______ upon closing

A

deviate

25
Q

If the shift is to the _______, adjust lingual inclines of Mand buccal cusps and/or Max lingual cusps

A

buccal

26
Q

If the shift is to the _______, adjust the buccal inclines of Mand lingual cusps and/or lingual inclines of
Max lingual cusps

A

lingual

27
Q

If the shift is to the ________, adjust the buccal inclines of Mand buccal cusps and/or Max lingual inclines
of buccal cusps

A

lingual

28
Q

What do you do with a non-working side prematurity?

A

Adjust buccal inclines of Mand lingual cusps and/or lingual inclines Max lingual cusps

29
Q

What do you do with a working side prematurity?

A

Adjust lingual inclines of Mand buccal cusps and/or lingual inclines of Max lingual cusps

30
Q

What do you do with a protusive prematurities on the maxillary?

A

Adjust the distal inclines

31
Q

What do you do with a protusive prematurities on the mandibular?

A

Adjust the mesial inclines

32
Q

Gold can easily be polished with ___________ points and a shine
is placed with _______________.

A

Brown and Green abrasive
Robinson brush

33
Q

Ceramics can be polished with ____________________ disks and polishers. Last shine given with…

A
  • Course Blue, Medium Pink, and Fine White
  • diamond pastes and bristle brush
34
Q

Just prior to cementation, the crown needs to be ___________.

A

cleaned

35
Q

What is the first thing you do when doing a crown seating?

A

Check contacts and margin first. If these are not acceptable, often a new impression is needed

36
Q

What is the last thing you check with a crown?

A

shade
- If crown fits in all other aspects, but shade is off, easy to send crown back to have shade change, which would not need a new impression

37
Q

Adjusting occlusion and contacts should be done prior to cementation to…

A

ensure crown is still acceptable to cement
