What must you do if you are in a collision?
- STOP. Failing to stop is a hit-and-run.
- If anyone is injured, call 911 immediately.
- If no one is injured, move your vehicle out of traffic first and THEN call 911.
- Show your license, registration, insurance, and current address to the other driver(s), law enforcement, and anyone else involved in the collision.
- You, your lawyer, insurance agent, or broker MUST file a report to law enforcement within 24 hours if anyone is injured or killed in the collision.
- If you hit or rolled into another vehicle or other property, attempt to find the owner. If you cannot find the owner, securely attach a note to the property with your name, number, and address, then report the collision to law enforcement.
- If you injure or kill an animal, call the nearest humane society or law enforcement. DO NOT attempt to move the animal.
