- Charles sought peace behind H’s back
- Attack on Isle of Wight saw Mary Rose sink (June 1546 Treaty of Ardes saw Boulogne for 8 years and pension
- Forced loans and taxes caused £650k burden, debasement over 3 years ruined currency (earnt £360k) and sale of royal land earnt £800k
- Surrey’s failure to take fortress led to Edward Seymour replacing him
