Final Study Guide Q6 Flashcards
Know the types of evaluation research?
Experimental designs
Quasi experimental designs- time series studies or nonequivalent control groups.
The objective/quantitative scientific approach is the most common. What are some other types?
Education model-changes in grades
Econometric model-cost benefit model
Needs assessment is one kind of assessment, and it is often the first part of a more comprehensive assessment project. What are some of the other types of assessment and where do they fit in to the larger assessment project?
Intake, pretesting, outcome.
What is formative evaluation?
Works to strengthen ethicacy. Evaluate whether goals are reached and if you’re meeting outcomes.
What is summative or impact evaluation?
Measures how effective the program/class/etc are. And if the effects are those intended.
What is the planning evaluation cycle?
(Planning phase)What is the problem? Conceptualize interventions. Select which ones to use. Implement intervention.
(Evaluating phase) Conceptualize response variable. Design an evaluation method. Collecting/analyzing evaluation data. Apply the evaluation results. Repeat
What is the response variable?
The dependent variable. Measures the outcome or “response” to the independent variable.
What do we mean by quasi-experimental method?
Nonrigorous inquires somewhat resemble controlled experiments but lacks pre and post testing and or control groups.
