Why was the Battle of New Orleans so important?
The battle of New Orleans was a war fought after the war had already ended but the news of the treaty had not yet reached Andrew Jackson. The U.S did not have enough ammo so Jackson told his troops to not fire until they can see the white in their eyes and they ended up winning the battle and giving jackson his road to the white house

A landmark decision by the United States Supreme court on U.S. labor law and constitutional law
It said that a black family whether enslaved or free could not be American citizens and could not sue in court
Federal government had no power to regulate slavery
Dred Scott, a slave who had lived with his owner in a free state before returning to the slave state of Missouri. Scott argued that time spent in a free state entitled him to emancipation.
The court decided that Dred Scott was not entitled to freedom even though he had resided in a free state and territory
The south agreed with the decision because they wanted to be able to take there slaves to free territories
Voted 5 (southerners) to 4(northerners)

Lincoln: republican, made books about debates, thought that slavery had to be protected since it was already here, thought douglas was in favor of something wrong, “all men are created equal”
