Final Exam Flashcards
What’s the Muscular System
The muscular system is the system in the body that provides movement, blood circulation, and posture to the blood and it consist of muscle fibers.
Three types of Muscle
Smooth
Cardiac
Skeletal
Smooth
The muscle that covers the internal organs
Cardiac
The muscle that covers the heart
Skeletal
The muscle attached to bones for movement
What is Fascia
Fascia surrounds and holds every organ, blood vessel, bone, nerve fiber, and muscle in place. It also stabilizes body structures and gives the body strength.
What is Fascia function?
Provide flexibility
Provide internal structure
Contain nerves that make it slam or as sensitive as the skin
What are the components of fascia?
Deep fascia
Periosteum
Ground substance
Collagen
What does Deep fascia do?
Surrounds and connects to the muscles, tendons, ligaments, and bones for structure and support.
What is periosteum?
A fascia like later that covers the bones and contains collagen fibers, blood vessels, and nerves for blood growth bone repair
What does Ground substance do?
Supports hydration and shock absorption in tissues like ligaments and join capsules (reduced wear on bones)
What does collagen do?
Provide elasticity, flexibility,and strength
What is collagen?
A protein that is the primary building block of the body’s skin, muscles, bones, tendons, and ligaments to other connective tissue.
What is a Tendon
The connective tissues that attaches muscle to bone
What is a ligament
The connective tissue that connects bone to bone
What is aponeurosis?
A thin sheet of connective tissue that helps connect muscle to bone (in face and upper body area) not arm and legs
