Thermal
Burn depth: 4 degrees
Superficial (1st degree) Partial Thickness (2nd degree) Full thickness (3rd degree) Deep full thickness (4th degree)- if muscle/tendon/bone are involved.
1st degree burn
dry, red, 1-5 days healing
2nd degree
2-3 weeks to heal, wet and waxy
may need grafting
3rd degree
white waxy or leathery look,
charred and black
4th degree`
may require amputation
can see bones, nerves etc
eschar
dead epidermis and necrotic dermis that remain attached to the wound bed.
incision made to let out excess fluid ( reduce edema)
hypertrophic scar?
A red hard collagenous scar. Usually begin to appear after 6 to 8 weeks post healing
