Were special class of priest they offered sacrifices like other priest, they were also responsible for the organization and administration of the temple

Faithful Jews. Loosely organized, sometimes breaking up into factions and joining newly formed groups. Would harass the roman army, sporadic uprising and occasional guerrilla warfare. Fought for jewish independence from Roman rule. Believed that Palestine was a theocracy, they believed that they were god’s chosen nation
Zealots
Separated themselves from society completely and Wendy to live celibate and abstinent life in camps in the desert. Follow the law of moses strictly. Preparing for the coming of God. Rejected anyone who didn’t belong to their sects. Called themselves “sons of light”. Were warlike like the zealots. John the Baptist was most likely influenced by this group
