- p. 386. EMPTY LOOKUPS. If FileMaker tries to find a RELATED RECORD to LOOK UP data from and can’t find one, then;
it just leaves the LOOKUP FIELD alone.
- When configuring a LOOKUP, you have a GROUP of RADIO BUTTONS under the “IF NO EXACT MATCH, THEN” option. What are they?
a. Do not copy
b. Copy Next Lower Value
c. Copy Next Higher Value
d. Use
- What does the DO NOT COPY option do?
It leaves the field alone, it does nothing.
- What does the COPY NEXT LOWER VALUE do?
This option looks at the closest LOWER Related Record. If you were looking for price information based on quantity, and the customer orders 38 units but you only have pricing for 30 or 40, this option chooses 30.
- COPY NEXT HIGHER VALUE
Works just like COPY NEXT LOWER VALUE, but copies the value form the NEXT HIGHER related record.
- What does the USE option do?
It lets you specify any value you want to substitute for a MISSING RELATED VALUE. If you are LOOKING UP customer age information and don’t have an age for the person, you tell FileMaker to use “N/A” instead.
