What do the adrenal glands release alongside adrenaline and what does it do?
ATP - provides a short-lived, intense surge of power, designed to move someone quickly out of danger’s way
What does adrenaline do?
Transported around the body in the bloodstream to prepare the body to deal with a high energy stimulus.
What are two of the targets of adrenaline and where are they?
SAN - within the right atrium of the heart, cardiovascular control centre - in the medulla oblongata
How does the flow of blood change in the fight or flight response?
Blood flows less to the less important organs such as skin and digestive system
What are some of the physiological changes in the fight or flight response?
Increase heart rate, dry mouth, sweating, increased breathing rate
