Field Experiments Flashcards
(+)
Greater ecological validity compared to a laboratory experiment because the surroundings are natural.
(++)
If participants are unaware that research is taking place then there is less of a chance of demand characteristics.
(-)
It’s impossible to replicate the study precisely which might reduce the reliability of the the experiments.
(–)
As there is less control over the situation there is a greater possibility that the results will be biased by extraneous variables (EV’s).
Field experiments.
A field experiment is carried out in a natural environment and the research still attempts to keep all variables constant except one variable (the IV) that it changes in order to estimate its effect on another variable (the DV).
