_Chronic, widespread, severe muscular aching, pain, and stiffness with insomnia, fatigue, and depression
_Accompanied by: hand and foot numbness, poor concentration, restless leg, mood changes, chest pain, IBS, dysmenorrhea, dizziness, anxiety, h/a, facial pain, irritable bladder
_Neither a rheumatic, inflammatory, progressive or degenerative disorder; however it is not solely a pyschosomatic or psychiatric disorder…it is not all in the patient’s head.
_Does not result in any physical damage to body or tissues, there is no one laboratory test or xray which can confirm the diagnosis

ETIOLOGY
Unknown origin 40%, Single trauma 15%, Body mechanics 15%, Post infection 10%, Emotional stress 10%, Auto-immune 5%, Other 5%

Pain in all four quadrants
At least 3 months duration
Tenderness or pain in at least 11 of 18 specific pressure points
Hypersensitive to odors, bright lights and loud noises; h/a and TMJ pain are common
