FI Terps Flashcards
What is required for climb gradients exceeding 500ft/nm?
AFS or military approval
How are takeoff ceiling and visibility minimums determined?
Ceiling is equal to the height of the obstruction above the airport elevation rounded to the next highest 100-foot increment. Visibility is equal to the distance measured directly from the DER to the obstruction rounded to the next highest whole mile (limited to 3 sm).
What are climb gradients are assumed in determine MCAs (Min crossing Altitude)?
150ft/NM to 5000, 120ft/nm to 10000, 100 ft/nm thereafter
Are feeder route a segment of the approach?
No.
What is operational service volume?
It is the sum of standard and expanded service volume.
What is the usable height and distance for a T Class VOR/VORTAC/TACAN?
12,000 and 25 NM
What is the usable height and distance for an L Class VOR/VORTAC/TACAN?
18,000 and 40 NM
What is the usable height and distance for an H Class VOR/VORTAC/TACAN?
60,000-45,000 100 NM, 45000 - 18000 130NM, 18000-14500 100NM, below 14500 40 NM
What is the usable distance of a compass locator?
15
What is the usable distance of a MH NDB?
25
What is the usable distance of a H NDB?
50
What is the usable distance of a HH NDB?
75
What is the usable height above the Station for a localizer?
4500 and 18 miles
How is the MDA determined?
Adding the ROC to the height of the controlling obstacle, and any adjustments rounded to the next higher 20-foot increment.
What is the ROC for a VOR approach with and without a FAF?
250 ft/300 Feet
