Best Fit Straight Line Flashcards
What is Best Fit Straight Line
A method of determining actual glide path angle, RDH, ARDH, GPI. The BFSL inspection method analyzes the glide slope based on actual achieved results, not theoretical values.
What is actual glidepath angle?
An average angle starting at 4NM from the runway and ending 3500 feet from the threshold.
Where is BFSL measured?
Based on data samples taken from point A to B a straight line segment is derived.
What is reference datum height (RDH)?
It’s the projected height of the commissioned glide path located vertically above the runway threshold and derived by computing the glide path between points A and B and projecting an extension of this glide path through the threshold.
What is achieved reference datum height?
BFSL glide path between 6000 and point C extending through the threshold.
When is BFSL used?
The best use of the BFSL process is during an ILS site evaluation flight inspection before the permanent glide slope facility is installed.
