Feynamn Diagrams Flashcards
Internal Lines
Propagators representing transfer of momentum, energy and quantum number
Photon γ Rules
- Absorbed/Emitted by leptons and quarks. Not neutrinos
- Do not change flavour
Gluon g Rules
Absorbed/Emitted by quarks and gluons
Neutral Boson Z Rules
- Absorbed/Emitted by leptons, quarks and neutrinos
- Does not change flavour
- Does not cross generations
Charged Boson W Rules (Leptons)
- Lepton → W + Neutrino
- Does not cross generation
Charged Boson W Rules (Quarks)
- Quark → quark + W
- Turns quark into a quark flavour below it
- Can cross generations
- Only flavour changing boson
Weak Interaction Force is present when
- Neutrino/Antineutrino pair produced/destroyed (Z)
- Quark/Lepton flavour change (W)
Electromagnetic Force is present when
Photon is involved
If a quark-antiquark pair of the same flavour appears/disappears
g/γ/Z ↔ qq
Bold means anti
If a neutrino-antineutrino pair appears/disappears
Z ↔ νν
If a charged lepton-antilepton pair of the same flavour appears/disappears
γ/Z ↔ ll
If a quark-antiquark of different flavours appears/disappears
W ↔ qq
If a quark changes flavour
W is absorbed/emitted
If nothing obvious happens
Internal absorption/emission of g/γ
